Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association (VSDCA) runs J.G. Craig Shield competition for Under 15 cricketers. This completion is recognised as the premier U15 cricket competition in Victoria and is played on senior turf wickets of the VSDCA clubs in January each year. The J.G. Craig Shield competition fits in between the U14 and U16 State Championships, in Cricket Victoria's Pathway Program.
To be eligible to play in the JG Craig competition, players must be under 15 years of age as of September 1 and
ineligible for selection in the Under 14 pathway teams. I.e. top age Under 15 cricketers.
In the past we have fielded a team that is a combination MWCC U15 players, juniors from other metropolitan clubs in the south eastern suburbs of Melbourne and juniors from rural Victoria.
The Mount Waverley Cricket Club JG Craig representative team will be coached by senior players and trials will be held at Mount Waverley Reserve - from October onwards.
The objective of these selection trials is to:
- Select a competitive squad of 13 to 14 players to represent MWCC
- Provide quality, supportive coaching from Qualified Coaches
- To give the players an opportunity to play on quality turf wickets and compete against other promising juniors from around Melbourne.
The final squad will be announced following the announcement of the U16 Cricket Victoria Pathway Squads, usually sometime in November or early December. Please note that players who are selected must ensure they are available for all matches including finals.
We welcome all eligible cricketers to attend our selection trials.
